I had a great time with my mom over the past 4 days, which meant little to no posting or reading.

So, on Wednesday, here is the New Music Tuesday Post!

WOW. So much great music this week.

My personal favorite for the week…She & Him “Volume 3”.
It’s awesome because:
1) It’s She & Him
2) It’s She
3) It’s Him
4) The songs are really good, again.
5) There’s good singing and stuff.

Honorable Mention: Lady Antebellum, solid solid record. “Golden”, find a way to listen. They “got to me”…

I haven’t listened to songs from all the new albums, yet.

But, here’s what I’ve heard so far:
Pistol Annies, “Annie Up” – consistent, Country
Ms. Lauryn Hill, “Neurotic Society” – meh
Little Boots, “Nocturnes” – very nice, electro pop
Deerhunter, “Monomania” – good stuff, interesting, Alt. Alt.
Natalie Maines, “Mother” – really good singer songwriter
Fitz & the Tantrums, “More Than Just a Dream” – I wasn’t moved, I think they are way better live, I probably just need to listen again, Alt
Justice, “Access All Arenas” – Live, Justice, awesome (electronic)
Savages, “Silence Yourself” – I’ll be listening to this some more, punk, post-punk, whatever, good energy
Joe Satriani, “Unstoppable Momentum” – I think this is really good, I like this better than his other albums, probably just me, I mean…It’s JOE SATRIANI, he’s awesome,   guitar player extrordinaire.
Cassie Taylor, “Out of My Mind”, ordinary, singer songwriter
Courtney Jaye, “Say oh Say” new song, this girl is good, sounded a bit like Neko Case to me, singer songwriter
Jessica Campbell, “The Anchor & the Sail”, sweet, easy to listen, great voice, good songs, singer songwriter – country-ish
LIGHTS, “Siberia Acoustic”, Acoustic version of LIGHTS’ awesome Siberia CD, showcases her nice voice
Talib Kweli – “Prisoner of Conscious”, I’m not qualified to give an opinion, I’m sure it’s good, I’m just not into that style, soz
Pet Shop Boys, “Axis” song, It didn’t grab me
Flight Facilities, “I Didn’t Believe” song, It didn’t excite me.
Ruth Moody – “These Wilder Things” – Newgrass, Bluegrass, fabulous, soft like Alison Krauss
Patty Griffin – “American Kid” – Country Icon, solid, fantastic
Temple of Thieves – “Passing through the Zeros” – new to me, but pretty good aggressive rock

Steve Hare – “Heart Like Your Own” – Christian, kind of electro-pop
Hanna Rose – “Hannah Rose” – Christian, really nice voice
Allan Scott – “God in Me” – Christian, nice harmony, great song
John Elefante – “On My Way To The Sun” – Christian, teamed up with some members of Kansas, how awesome is that
Halestorm – “Here’s to Us” (with Slash) – Metal, Good in your face, kick ass song (explicit)

I’m SOOOO Excited for a couple new albums coming next week.
First of all the wonderful sound of She & Him. This is M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel. They make up She & Him. They have a Volume 1 and a…you get the picture.
They are so awesome live. Very fun. M. Ward is a great guitarist, and Zooey’s voice is all 1940-50 vintagey sounding. Check Them Out!

The other, is a more obscure joy. It is a relatively unknown band out of Bellingham WA called “Polecat”. Hard to really describe them. They are kinda Bluegrass, Reggae, Americana, lots of energy thing. I saw them at Bumbershoot (a few years ago). Their new album: Fathoms comes out next week!
