Some good stuff from the Jezabels.

Easy to listen to, emotional, catchy.

This is more than just a music video (though it is a great song). I recommend you watch part or all of it just to enjoy the 11 year old gir dancer. She’s AMAZING. And, of course, the song and singer are fantastic too. How can you lose?

This post is being brought to you from the sunny northwest.
I didn’t post yesterday because…it was near 80 in the Seattle area.
And because we were celebrating Mother’s day a week early. My mom was up from Arizona, so my wife and mum got flowers and will get other stuffs today.
That was why I didn’t post yesterday.

And…I realize that I am using up over 50% of my novel writing efforts doing my daily themed blog posts, which are fun…but, I need to slack off on those and focus back on my second draft editing work. Back to work as a writer/author.

But for now: Soundtracking Sunday.
These are the artists which grabbed the majority of my listening time this week:

  1. David Bowie the new album is pretty awesome, the old stuffs too
  2. Schuyler Fisk Sissy Spacek’s daughter, really nice voice, good songs
  3. Taproot ca-ca-ca-calling but I can’t hear you, that song & Poem, rock on
  4. Opeth my weekly dose of progressive metal, this week a sprinkle of growling, 😀
  5. Dar Williams she’s…well, she’s fantastic
  6. The Jezebels love them, such good songs, I especially love their live album
  7. Botch now defunct, but when you need some hardcore, they are a good choice
  8. Broken Social Scene ever changing line-up, usually some lovely stuff
  9. Battles get lost in “Mirrored”, this is what rock may sound like in 15-20 years
  10. Daughter debut album with Elena Tonra. Deliciously dark, here’s their cover of “Get Lucky” marvelous

Great week ahead with new music from She & Him.
Hope it is sunny and nice where you are located. Consider working on your novel/memoir out in the sun today.

The new Alice Russell is really nice soul. Loved what I’ve heard so far.

Alice Russell “To Dust”

Deep Purple has a new album out. First without Jon Lord. First since 2005. The songs I heard are good & solid.

Deep Purple “Now What”

The Os Mutantes is pretty spectacular.

Os Mutantes “Fool Metal Jack”

Victor Wooten’s latest is fun in a Victor kind of way. For bass lovers. (not the fish…)

The Melvins new effort has at least a couple of good covers. I only heard 3 songs. Nice CD in prep for their 30th anniversary tour.
For country fans…a new Kenny Chesney record. WhooHaww!

Others (I’ve not had a chance to listen to all the new albums, yet):
Airbourne Toxic Event — good stuff
Streetlight Manifesto — “Fun!!”

What’s better than an Alanis Morissette live album (CD/Blue-Ray/DVD/Spotify)?
A = Listening to it. 😀

“Alanis Morissette – Live at Montreux”

And speaking of Smoke on the water, Deep Purple has a new album out, next week!

Hey! Let’s hear it for 80’s Hair Metal
New albums by Queensryche “Frequency Unknown” & War & Peace “The Flesh & Blood Sessions”

“Queensryche – Frequency Unknown”

Banjo Lovers…Steve Martin & Edie Brickell have put out a nice understated Bluegrass album “Love Has Come For You”

“Steve Martin, Edie Brickell – Love Has Come For You”

Hip-hop lovers have a new release from K-OS – BLack on BLonde.
I’m not a huge Hip-hop fan, but I enjoyed what I’ve heard from this record.

R&B Fans have a nice new release from Fantasia – Side Effects of You.

Fantasia – Side Effects of You

Phoenix fans will have to make up their own minds about “Bankrupt!”
Some critics feel it falls short. Seemed pleasant enough to me.

Phoenix – Bankrupt!

There’s also Lori McKenna, and last weeks Daft Punk single “Get Lucky”.
Trust me, you have enough love in your heart for a few more artists.

Black and White Affair has a good music post this week as well.
