It’s early and I’ve finished editing/revising my first 3 chapters, which became 4.5 chapters. During the evenings this week I’ve edited using pen and paper. Some pages resembled one of Charlie Brown’s pen pal letters. Pencil might be better. This weekend, a breakthrough! I haven’t been able to edit using Word, so I used pen and paper. But yesterday, I started putting my edits into my Scrivener novel file. I found working with chapter sections in Scrivener was easy because you can see the whole section at once (unless there is only one section to the  chapter). My next edits will be while I read aloud from my Kindle. I’ll highlight the stuffs that don’t sound right. After that, the chapters will be ready for my editor.

Poll time. How do you like to edit/revise?

I’m relatively organized. I hate wasting time. For this project I am using Scrivener as my collector/organizer. Such a great tool. I do my daily writing with IAWriter on my iPad. IAWriter saves my dailies in separate text files in my Dropbox account’s folder. Then at the end of the week, I open up Scrivener on my PC (it’d be much nicer on a mac) and store the dailies as separate files in folders labeled for the month. Then, I go back and copy out sections from the dailies and categorize them into scenes in my outline folder. I currently have 33 scenes identified. This week, I created 8 folders in my outline folder which correspond to the 8 point story arc. Next weekend I may start moving scenes into these 8 separate folders.
