Tag Archives: Reading

I’m a writer, not an author, yet. I have four jobs. Husband/Father, Day job, writer, and reader. Today, I’m gonna focus on the reader job.

I realized that reading is an important part of my writing life. Essential. So I have made it a job. A fun job. I set aside time for reading just like I set aside time for writing. I have reading goals. I read books I wouldn’t normally read because I’m trying to learn something.

I focused on reading just three years ago. I identified it as one of my jobs last fall. It’s a great job! I like the discovery of reading just like I like discovering the details of a story when I write.

I’m not saying anything new. The majority of writers I know are readers first. Their love for writing came from their love of reading.

That’s all. I need to go clock in. 🙂

Well, I’m embarrassed. I started reading “The Runes of the Earth” but couldn’t continue. It seems like I don’t like fantasy anymore? Maybe just not right now. I hope. Instead, I’ve started a book by Isabel Ashdown called Glasshopper. I’m 25% in and enjoying the read. I’m also sound tracking Cream while I read. Adds to the experience.

Happy Sunday.

I have been nominated for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award by Legends of Windemere who is an author of Fantasy fiction. He is an interesting and encouraging blogger. I have appreciated his comments. And, he has a beautiful forest scene picture background on his site.

I appreciate the community of writers and readers here on WordPress.

Here are the rules of the award:
1.) Display the award logo on your blog.
2.) Link back to the person who nominated you.
3.) State 7 things about yourself.
4.) Nominate 15 bloggers for this award.
5.) Notify those bloggers of the nomination by linking to one of their specific posts so that they get notified by ping back.

These bloggers have been encouraging to me.

I finished my Cormac McCarthy book last night.
Now, my return to reading the fantasy genre.
Haven’t read fantasy since the ’80s.
Where to start?
I’m starting “The Runes of the Earth” which is book #1 of the Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant.
I loved the first six books. I didn’t even know there was a continuation.
I’m excited!
I’m still on my break from writing. It’s a good thing.
Have a great weekend everyone.

I am reading Cormac McCarty’s “The Orchard Keeper” and enjoying the book.

I know I’m on a break, but I needed to get all the remaining days writings from iAWriter into Scrivener. I copied the raw material in and then copied parts into their respective content folders.  Finally, I copied the content into the first scene folder. Now I feel the progress in my writer muscles and can’t wait for the next day of lifting!
