This past weekend I attended 3 sessions led by Margie Lawson.
The information that skewered my attention was the section on Power Words.
Power words are those that will evoke an emotional response from the reader, and possibly a visceral response. In my example above I used “skewered” instead of the common “grabbed” to engage the reader.
Some common Power words:
Longing. Seized. Powerful. Threatened. Panic. Panic. Permanent. Inconsolable. Loss.
