I couldn’t start my lawnmower last night. I’m not super mechanical. I’m going to replace the spark plug this afternoon. But first, I need to find the right socket so I can pull the plug. I’m pretty sure it’s fouled. If it’s not fouled then…the possibilities exceed my tools and capabilities.
Hmm, editing/revising is like my lawnmower? Sure, I’ll go with that. I certainly carry around enough gas. Sometimes I’m well oiled. Sometimes I’m cold. Sometimes inspiration pulls my starter cord and I rumble to life crowding out any other sound or sensation til my job is done. Sometimes inspiration just gets exhausted after 6 pulls and gives up. Today, I’m looking over a lush lawn that won’t organize itself into the proper length. It’s lumpy. There are weeds. And it is endless. During the season for editing/revising, the lawn just keeps growing everyday until the season is over.
It will be time soon to go smell like gas, smear grass stains on my shoes, and collect mower spittle on my legs. But first, the spark plug.
