First Draft, Chapter One, done!

Phew. It took eight days to finish the first draft of chapter one. There are parts I’m pleased with, and other parts I feel are weak. However, I need to move one to chapter two. I read the entire first chapter to my wife last night. She didn’t fall asleep, check. She was able to track the characters, check. She wasn’t clear about a couple of things. It was because the writing wasn’t clear enough. I will read part of it to my reading group this afternoon. I will comment this draft with my wife’s and my writing group’s comments, put the chapter back into Scrivener, and move along to chapter two.

Note to self: leave this draft alone for now!

Congrats, keep it up, you can do it! 🙂

  2. Best advice is to leave it alone. I wrote something for NaNoWriMo last year and didn’t read it at all. I finished a chapter and moved straight onto the next one. In a month or so, I’ll read it and start the next draft. Keep it fresh otherwise I’ll keep editing and tinkering. And editing. And tinkering. 🙂

Good idea with leaving it alone. You’ll return fresh and clear for editing. Congrats on finishing the first chapter.
