Donald Maass “What’s a foundational attribute of your protagonist? Create an odd tic or habit that implies the opposite. Add six times. Voilà: a quirk.” From Writing 21st Century Fiction
The white screen with keyboard fell asleep waiting for some tapping, any tapping. Alas, there was none.
Then, I reached for my Donald Maass book and pulled out the question from a chapter summary. Then I was created a meaningful habit/quirk for my protag. He seems to enjoy it.
