The Flattening of eBook sales (roughtype.com)

“In a post on the first day of this year, I noted the surprisingly rapid decline in e-book sales growth over the course of 2012. The trend appears to be continuing this year. The Association of American Publishers reports that in the first quarter of 2013, e-book sales in the U.S. trade market grew by just 5 percent over where they were in the same period in 2012. The explosive growth of the last few years has basically petered out, according to the AAP numbers:”

  1. Carr’s piece seems to be going viral. I wrote about it earlier this week, as did Blaise Lucey, but I do agree with you that ebooks have probably plateaued for a while. The market will readjust. More than likely, the digital share will continue to grow.

  2. That’s interesting. I can’t help but think that e-books will always have a fair share of the market; maybe even gain traction as time passes. Hopefully…

      I think so. This really isn’t doom and gloom. I think it is just saying that we’ve reached a steady state in growth percentages. After the meteoric growth it’s to be expected. IMO
